My christmas card digital painting for 2008. I was trying to capture the Norman Rockwell feel.
I've done a good many master copies of his works in various painting classes, but sadly there will only ever be one Norman Rockwell. Happy Holidays! |

 reports, 1d 13h agoDaily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you  the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on.  reports, 1d 23h agoThis newsletter was "born" back in March 2007, from a conversation between ~Lareth and =FrozenStarRo, who with the help of their friends *Iardacil and *Sylwiaa , wanted to make something to promote known and unknown photomanipulators alike here on DeviantArt. As of September 2009 =ImaginaryRosse joined the project and will be helping us out with the weekly choices. What Did You Say?
Layers and layers. I've studied Rockwell quite a bit, so I know his process. I basically tried to emulate that digitally. So, it was drawn in painter with warm hue pencils and charcoal, then the paint is digitally layered upon that. The darks are usually pretty thin and I used canvas textures to emphasize that, and impasto textures for the highlights. Then lots of color correction layers in photoshop to give the appearance of the printing process of the Saturday Evening post that faded his paintings a bit. Hope that all makes sense.
